Offers & Needs Markets

Practical events for community resource sharing

Offers and Needs Markets are facilitated events that aim to uncover wealth in our communities and distribute it according to want and need. ‘Wealth’ here refers to knowledge, skills, resources, passions and opportunities. The Offers and Needs Markets format was designed and taught to me by the Post Growth Institute. They take place all over the world, part of a global movement of post-growth/regenerative economics. For more information, visit offersandneeds.com

I have facilitated Offers and Needs events in a number of different contexts - once in an open event in a community cafe (THE MIX) - twice for a local neighbourhood development organisation (CIVIC SQUARE) - and three times for the disabled/arts community (MAIA). Beyond any practical outcomes, these events have created spaces to reconsider our personal and collective abundance, the myths we hold about asking for help, and the power of mutual aid.

For an example of the types of offers and needs that emerge, see the beautiful illustrations below created by
OURISUALS at the first MAIA Disabled Offers and Needs Market.
